Iceberg #431

Iceberg

Bonavista, Newfoundland – Oil on Canvas

This painting brought me back to our memorable trip to Newfoundland in 2000. Bonavista is a pretty little town along the shore. Although we never did see the icebergs in July, our old friends captured this photo two summers ago and I was taken back by the size and beauty of the iceberg, it feels like you could just reach out and touch it, like that of a cotton ball cloud that seems just within reach. The appreciation of the strength and majestic feel of this “ice cube” in the sea reminds us how grateful we are living in beautiful Canada.

Misty Day On The Bay #430

Misty Day On The Bay

Trinity, Newfoundland – Oil on Canvas

Although I’ve only been once to Newfoundland, it was one of our most memorable family trips in 2000. So it was with no surprise when our old friends visited Newfoundland two summers ago, I was taken back by their photos that brought back such fond memories of our trip with our five children. Newfoundland is one of my favourite provinces (up there with BC), but there’s something so unique about the land, the people, the kindness, the realness of humanity that drew me in. This is a typical simple, view along the Bay, the little coloured homes along the shore as people live one with the sea.
