Past 40 North/Sylvia Grimmel River, Iqaluit - Oil on Canvas

This is a widened view of The Bay, past the 50 North whereby it meets up with the Sylvia Grimmel River in Iqaluit. I’m particularly drawn to the dramatic sky, so I focused on it as my subject matter leaving the river and landscape quiet. My nephew lives out here with his fiance and I am fortunate that through their adventures, I can bring it to life on canvas. My plan is to paint more of our stunning Northern Canada. The Arctic sea and the edge of our Canadian Shield are particularly of interest to me.
